Milad un Nabi:

Mohammed(saw) the master of prophets, was born on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 570 BC on Mondayin Bani Hashim one of the clans of the Quraysh tribe in Makkah.

There are mixed beliefs on how one observes prophet Mohammed (saw) birthday. Some people beliefs the day as worthy of praise as it was beloved prophet Mohammed(saw) birthday, on other hand some people belief that celebration of birthdays are contradictory in Islamic religion.

However, many Muslims do not celebrate it as joining processions but they spend more time by reciting Quran-e- shareef. Prophet Mohammed(saw) is said to born on Monday and some Islamic scholars fasts on Monday, which is another way of celebration of this occasion.

Prophet Mohammed(saw) was sent to us in order to teach us how to worship almighty Allah. When prophet Mohammed(saw) came to Madinah. He found that people of Madinah found celebrating, playing and they are in state of joy on a particular day.

So he asked them what is this date and they told him that on this particular day , we use to celebrate long time ago and we celebrate it annually so prophet Mohammed(saw) denied him from doing this and he told him that we have only two feast in Islam i.e, feast of EID-UL-FITR and feast of EID-UL-ADHA so it is not permissible to have innovated celebration or feast.

If we take a look at the SURAH-AL-KAHAF toward the end Allah speaks about the biggest losers those who do lot of deeds and they think they are doing good deeds but at the same time they have not followed the messenger’s path and way and this is why they have lost.

People who have spoiled their deeds completely they are those whose struggle was always astray they neither followed the path of messenger they did deeds, act of worship which were not taught nor done by the messenger and they thought they were doing good.

There is no single act of worship our messenger forgot to teach us. We should not come up with the new act of worship that could spoil our deeds.

According to Milad-un-Nabi if we want to analyse this to know if its sunnah or an innovation.

First of all, people celebrate it on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal and authentic opinion of scholars that prophet Mohammed(saw) was born on 12th of 3rd month of Islamic calendar and died on 14th Rabi-ul-Awwal which means we claim to celebrate the birth day of prophet Mohammed(saw) but actually celebrating his death.

Second of all, we must have pattern to follow and to know if it is a sunnah or it is an innovation. anything that brings you closer to Allah has to have an evidence we must follow holy book Quran and the sunnah in order to be on safe side. So, come to Milad-un-Nabi does our prophet celebrate his own Milad? The answer will be no! the only indication to his birthday was that he use to fast on Mondays. He never celebrated anything on the 3 rdmonth of Islamic calendar.

When someone asked prophet Mohammed(saw) why do you fast on Mondays? So, he told them that this is the day that I was born in and on this day Quran was revealed. So, if you wish to celebrate the birthday of prophet Mohammed(saw) so fast every Monday. The prophet himself did not celebrate his birthday nor did his companions .

In short, celebrating of the birthday of prophet is an innovation and something that was fabricated. If you love prophet then follow him in every detail make charity to poor people, perform Namaz and keep fasting and recite durood-e-shareef .
