EID MILAD UN NABI (SAW) is also known asJashan-e-Milad un Nabi (SAW). Eid-e-Milad is known to be one of the most important festival celebrated in Muslim culture. This occasion is believed to be birthday of the PROPHET MOHAMMED (SAW). Eid Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated on every 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal 3rd month according to Islamic calendar.

Mohammed(saw) the master of prophets, was born on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 570 BC on Monday in Bani Hashim one of the clans of the Qur aysh tribe in Makkah. Prophet Mohammed(saw) was sent to us in order to teach us how to worship almighty Allah .

Prophet (SAW) is the messenger of almighty god in Islam. For Muslims Eid-e-Milad un Nabi is an important occasion to remember the kindness and teachings of holy prophet Mohammed (saw). And devotees show their love and reverence of him by offering prayers, holding green flags, preparing feasts and planning family get together in which they recite holy book Quran-e-Majeed, sing Naat-e-shareef and remember’s beloved prophet Mohammed (saw) nature and generosity.

According to the Islamic scholars prophet Mohammed (saw) was born on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal in 570 BC in the holy city Mecca. Rabi-ul-Awwal is the third month in the Islamic calendar. This day is marked as the public holiday to celebrate prophet Mohammed(saw) birthday. The Sunni Muslims celebrate Milad-un-Nabi on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, while the Shia Muslims celebrate Milad-un-Nabi on the 17th of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Eid-e-Milad is the day dedicated to the teachings of prophet Mohammed(saw) and celebrated across the world. Parents narrates stories to their kids based on life of beloved prophet Mohammed (saw) as per the tradition. Parents teach their kids to follow the teachings of the prophet Mohammed(saw).

Many people light lamps, decorate their homes, streets and mosques. Many people celebrate this festival by doing charity and helping the needy. Hence families share feasts with underprivileged and make donations. On this day public gathering and speeches are made to highlight the life of the holy prophet Mohammed(saw).

Many people organise jalsa or ijtema [Assemblage gathering] to teach and advise peoples about the good deeds and hardship done by beloved prophet Mohammed(saw) to serve humanity and invite people to follow Islam. Many people on Milad-un-Nabi sing naats and hymns in praise of prophet Mohammed (saw).

Many people holding green flags and reciting phrase “NAARA-E-TAKBEER; ALLAHU AKBAR” [slogan of greatness; Allah is greatest]organise processions and roam on the road showing their love towards prophet Mohammed (saw).
